Arrivederci! Buffon bows out of Italy after World Cup failure!

A tearful Gianluigi Buffon bid goodbye to international football on Monday as Italy lost to Sweden 1-0 on aggregate in a World Cup play-off. The Italians had trailed 1-0 from the first leg and were held to goalless draw in Monday's return leg in Milan. The match marked a sour end for Buffon to a brilliant 20-year career with the Azzurri which included lifting the World Cup in 2006. The 39-year-old goalkeeper finishes with 175 caps for Italy who won't be playing at a World Cup for the first time since 1958.
