New York City 2-2 Toronto: David Villa brilliance not enough for NYC

New York City FC squandered a chance to claim three points to close down the top of the Eastern Conference after a 2-2 draw against Toronto. Toronto were without Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore due to the Gold Cup, but took the surprise lead when Ashtone Morgan headed in a cross. David Villa then claimed the lead for New York, scoring one himself before setting up Alex Callens in the second half. It was not enough though, as Victor Vazquez stepped up to convert a penalty kick in stoppage time to earn his side a draw.
