England's all-time leading scorer Rooney retires from Three Lions!

Wayne Rooney has declined to be part of Gareth Southgate's squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers. The 31-year-old left Manchester United in the summer to re-join boyhood club Everton in a move which appears to have re-energized the forward who has scored in first two Premier League games to start the season.Rooney had been overlooked by Southgate for matches against Scotland and France in June, but there had been speculation in the press a recall was on the cards following his recent performances for the Toffees. However, the former England captain has squashed chances of a reunion by announcing his retirement and now finishes his international career with 53 goals in 119 appearances.
