Dortmund 1-3 Real Madrid: Bale wondergoal, Ronaldo brace!
Borussia Dortmund's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League took a hit on Tuesday as they lost 3-1 at home to holders Real Madrid in Group H.
The Germans looked dangerous in what was an open game but Madrid's ruthlessness in front of goal combined with a number of goal-line clearances at the back meant they emerged with two victories from their opening two games in the group while Dortmund have zero points.
Real took the lead in the 18th minute as Gareth Bale produced a stunning left foot volley into the top corner from Dani Carvajal's cross before the Welshman provided the cutback for Cristiano Ronaldo to make it 2-0 for the visitors five minutes into the second period.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang responded for Dortmund four minutes later with a clinical finish under pressure but Ronaldo's fierce near post drive from a Luka Modric through-ball settled the points with 11 minutes to go.
