Ouch: Rooney gets busted open on 400th EPL appearance

Wayne Rooney made his 400th Premier League appearance on 23 September against Bournemouth, but his milestone match turned into agony when he was left bleeding with a cut on his left eye after he was struck in the face by an elbow from Bournemouth captain Simon Francis. Referee Martin Atkinson missed the incident and Francis was left unpunished, much to Rooney's frustration. Everton eventually won the match 2-1 without Rooney, who was substituted for Oumar Niasse. Niasse went on to score both goals for the Toffees.
