Man City 2-1 Napoli: Entertainment galore as clash lives up to billing

Premier League leaders Manchester City took decisive steps towards progressing from the Champions League group stages when they saw off their Serie A counterparts 2-1. In a battle billed as one between two of Europe’s most entertaining, Pep Guardiola’s men threatened to run riot, going two goals ahead before the 15th minute through Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, but the Partenopei were never out of it. Dries Mertens missed a penalty that would have seen Napoli pick up a draw had he scored on top of Amadou Diawara’s spot kick, as the Italians rue a tough result to swallow.
