Sneijder fires Al-Gharafa into Asian Champions League group stage!
Wesley Sneijder scored on his Asian Champions League debut to help guide Qatari side Al-Gharafa to the group stage of the competition with a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan's Pakhtakor Tashkent.
Sneijder made no mistake from the spot to open the scoring in the 21st minute although the decision to award the penalty was dubious to say the least.
Al-Gharafa added to their tally just seven minutes later after Diogo Amado's speculative shot from distance went under the Pakhtakor keeper.
The Uzbeks pulled a goal back in the dying seconds from another goalkeeping error - this time it came from Al-Gharafa's No.1 as he failed miserably to claim a cross.
